A memory I keep close to my heart
I suppose I'll take this chance to share the best Valentine's Day I ever had.
Yesterday, I spent the day with Dave, who I made chocolates for and received some in return. We went into town for the Chinese New Year festival, which included fair ground rides, stalls and a parade with dragons. We wondered up the high street, looking at all the nice stuff in the stalls, got a drink at Starbucks and waited for the parade to start. We then wandered back down the high street to where the rides were and went on one called Froggit, which was lots of fun. Met up with a few of my college buddies and chatted for a bit, then headed over to the arcade as it had started to rain. Had 4 rounds on the dance machine, I was in a hyper mood and having so much fun dancing with him, then went to the Apple Store (We love Apple products), had a drink at Costa then went back to his car. Then we went over to Eastleigh to have dinner at Frankie & Benny's, we shared a pizza, then had some desserts and chatted away. We then came back to my house and chatted some more about my Mac, he showed me some cool apps, then he left and I was sad. It was so much fun!

Hikki - In The Flesh! + Making Your First Concert A Good One

This was the view I had pretty throughout the whole concert. I was like, in the middle of the room. But that there is Utada Hikaru, in person. I'm lucky to even have this photo. I actually took it on my phone. But anyway.

The concert was brilliant, better than I expected. The lighting was amazingly done, the band sounded brilliant and she was just beautiful. She made me cry when she sang Sakura Drops and First Love. I hated the fact that I am short and couldn't see well, my feet were aching from walking around all day and I was sandwiched between a really tall guy and a Japanese guy who WOULD NOT stop pushing me and was sweating like a pig. Sure, it was hot in that tiny room full of about 800 people but he should have taken off his massive jacket. Urgh. 

So, some tips for concerts are in order I think. This was my first concert and it's a shame I had complications so let's avoid that.

Tips for making your first concert a good one:

- Remember the fact that there is no such thing as personal space at these things.

- Bring deodorant, you will get sweaty.

- Drink plenty of water beforehand, some concerts don't allow outside drinks.

- Go to the toilet beforehand as well, you'll never get your place back if you leave during the show.

- If you're short and you want a good view, wear some comfortable heels. People behind you may get pissed off but...

- ...No one cares if you can't see! Everyone wants the best view of the performer so if you're short or waaaaaaaay at the back, no one cares. 

- Some venues don't allow photography, so don't bother taking a camera with you. Instead, if chances are you can take photos, take photos on your mobile phone. The quality might not be amazing but at least you have the photo as a memory.

- Make sure you plan your night. Leave time before to get a drink and PLENTY of time after to travel home. 

- Camping before the show? Invest in thermal clothing like underwear. It may not be sexy or stylish, but it'll keep you warm. It can get cold at night, even in the summer. 

- Dehydration is terrible and can cause headaches and nausea. Bring enough money to pick up a bottle of water or two after the show, because you'll be doing a lot of cheering (and sometimes singing!) 

I guess that's it. Just be safe, ok?

Nails, Nails, Nails!

God, I looooooove cute nails. I've started growing out my nails for this exact reason. I want deco nails! But I don't know where to get the wax bows or teeny tiny rhinestones from. Any ideas guys?

What I'm Currently Working On Part 3

This edition is all about, you guessed it, COSPLAY!

The two cosplays I am working on right now are Remilia Scarlet (left) and Tsukasa Hiiragi (right) which are being made for debut at London MCM Expo in May. But, not only will I be cosplaying these two very cute characters, I will be PLAYING them. It is my goal this time around to have the way both characters act and talk down before Expo so I can bring these two characters to life. So if you see me during Expo, I will either be sweetly rude or adorably clumsy ^^

Remilia's cosplay will be made from light pink cotton and red cotton with wire and faux leather wings.

Tsukasa's cosplay will be made from white blouse cotton, red suiting fabric, white cotton ribbon, pink cotton, yellow cotton, store bought white socks and store bought shoes.

Progress pictures will be posted on Cosplay-Chan @ DeviantART which is also where I deal with commissions.

In Reply To: In Defence Of Princesses

If you are a follower of the lovely Lolita Charm, you may have read Miss Victoria’s recent post “In Defence of Princesses”. (If you haven’t, I command you to read it.) First of all, I’d just like to say, that post brought a tear to my eye. I believe, as probably the most famous princess quote says, that all girls are princesses. Each princess has her own story and no matter how tragic or sad that story may be, every single one of them deserves a happy ending.

Today, I’m going to talk to you about my story. As a young girl, I never dreamed of being a princess. I was a tomboy and loved to wonder around in ripped jeans and climb on trees. I moved around a lot and never really had a permanent place to call my castle. I moved from the Queen’s Kingdom of Great Britain over to the vast kingdom of the United States. Even there I moved houses from Michigan to Alaska and around Alaska.

But going back even farther, to the days I cannot remember, I was a young princess. I was always dressed in elegant, handmade dresses, but I was covered in bumps and bruises (I’m still very clumsy). It wasn’t until recently that I dubbed myself a princess and donned the tiara to show it. I did have a princess bedroom, though it was shared with my younger sister and was taken away from me when my mother left my father. I suppose I’m filling the void with making my room an elegant hideaway for myself in the near future and wearing beautiful and expensive dresses smothered in lace.

Living with my father was rough; we didn’t have much money so nice clothing was out of the question. I did have a cute pair of jeans, however, that was bought for me as a gift. They had butterfly lace on them :3

But now I live with my mother and I’ve actually learned how to sew, I can make wonderful and beautiful clothing for myself. Now, I truly am a princess.

I’d like to say a huge thank you to Miss Victoria Suzanne for making me realise it’s ok to be an elegant lady even if others around me don’t accept it. I certainly do believe that we are all princesses.

I don’t live in a castle.

I don’t have a lot of money.

I don’t own expensive diamonds.

I won’t marry a real prince.

But I’m still a princess, all girls are.

After an exciting weekend like that, who wouldn't feel brilliant?

This weekend was simply amazing. I know I promised pictures but I didn't take any on Friday or Sunday because of all the excitement (and the fact I'd forgotten my camera both days D:). But I did take some on Saturday, which I will upload later.

Friday's Rocky Horror Show Performance

The Rocky Horror Picture Show was an amazing experience. I had so much fun getting up and doing the Time Warp, clapping and singing along to the songs and just being there with my great friends from Southampton Anime Society. They are a great lot and I hope to have many more fun times with them.

I even kept my ticket to stick in a scrapbook :3

Saturday's Baking Day

Ok, so we didn't make as much stuff as we planned. But we made cupcakes! And I made butter icing to decorate them with. I want to make some more this week :3 I love decorating cupcakes >w<

Sunday's Day Out with Dave

Avatar in 3D isn't just a movie. It's an experience. It was THAT good. The 3 hour movie didn't feel that long and seeing it in 3D is just... breath-taking. It made me think about what we are doing to the environment, it nearly made me cry and it made me sit on the edge of my seat with my mouth open like an idiot. But yea. If you haven't seen that movie yet, I command you to RIGHT NOW!

Well, after the movie we went to get something to eat. We went to a small Chinese restaurant in town called Ocean Dragon. It is a really nice place to eat, and has a lovely atmosphere. And the good thing is, it's cheap, which is particularly important in this day and age. But yea, it ended up being just over £30 for an all-you-can-eat buffet and drinks for two. Not bad, if I do say so myself. It was very filling and very lovely.

After that, we ended up at Mark's for the rest of the evening. It started with a chat and a bit of Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift but that got turned off as no one was paying attention and we put on Youtube. I showed them some cute videos (Sweets Parade from Alice Parade, Dote Up A Cat's opening and True My Heart from Nursery Rhyme) then we watched Vicci and Zoe do the dance from Minna no Tamago (them and two other girls are cosplaying the girls from Shugo Chara! EGG!) and showed off future cosplays.

All in all, a very lovely day that I really really enjoyed. Dave is just a very sweet person *blush*

Bring On The Weekend

I've got a good weekend planned this week. Perhaps I'll cheer me up a bit, I haven't been feeling myself recently.

Friday: Rocky Horror Show with Southampton Anime Society.

This sounds like it'll be a whole mess of fun. Not sure on what to wear though. I don't own a corset that fits or anything from that era. Jeans and T-Shirt sounds very tempting. ¬¬ I'm so boring.

Saturday: Baking Day!

My Mom has declared that Saturday is a baking day. We're going to make lots of yummy goodies, both sweet and savoury, so expect photos of beautiful cupcakes and other good stuff.

Sunday: Day Out with Dave.

I'm really looking forward to this. He's offered to take me to see Avatar in 3D as, according to him, it is a chance I cannot miss. We will most likely be getting something yummy to eat after as well ♥ Very much looking forward to this. ♥♥♥♥♥

So there is my weekend in a nutshell. I'll be posting pictures of the weekend after I've had it of course.

By the way, I'm in love with Owl City at the moment. Adam Young's music is so inspiring and lovely.

And I don't know about you guys, but I just cannot help but play with my blog charm *giggle*.

Valentine's Day is coming up. Everyone got their special someone they want to spend the day with and spoil with sickeningly sweet goodies? I don't but I have someone in mind ♥ I'm going to try making special chocolates this year.
